Booster Meeting highlights

September 18, 2008 @ 7:00pm
Will be the first booster meeting of the '07-'08 school year. Please join us in the high school band room!

Highlights:

The September 18, 2007 band booster meeting was well attended.

Rick Braden gave a report on how the concession stand is doing. We’re still looking for a person to fill the 1^st Vice President, in charge of concessions.

Cindy Hobbs reported on the fundraising efforts so far. There have been several new faces helping with the donut sales and the home game sales. We will be partnering with Pa Pa Joe’s pizza in a fundraising endeavor at the Connect With Groveport event on Friday, September 28^th. Cindy, Terry and Nancy are scheduled to work. Others who would like to help at CWG should contact Cindy.

Bessie Buckland reported on the uniforms and thanked all the volunteers.

Three Lemmons Insurance will be donating the cost of the copying of the booster newsletter for the entire 2007/2008 school year!

Sarah Brown reported that candy bar sales and the Market Day brochure sales start 9/19.

New fundraising opportunities at the Columbus Zoo, Cooper Stadium and Nationwide Arena. Cindy Hobbs will be getting details.

A bus is being donated to the band for band equipment!

Next meeting will be October 16, 2007 in the band room at 7:00pm. Hope to see you there!

October 16, 2007 @ 7pm

Meeting highlights:

The October 16, 2007 band booster meeting was very well attended.

Rick Braden gave a report on how the concession stand is doing. We’re still looking for a person to fill the 1^st Vice President, in charge of concessions. With only 2 volleyball games so far, the business at the concession stand has been pretty slow. 5-6 people will be needed during basketball season. A plea for help will be put in the November newsletter.

Cindy Hobbs reported on the fundraising efforts so far. There have been several new faces helping with the doughnut sales and the home game sales. We increased our doughnut sales at the home games to 75 dozen. Cindy, Terry and Nancy worked the Connect With Groveport event that was held on Friday, September 28^{th .} We still have plenty of blankets to sell and about 20 or so band calendars. Kroger Card updated – we have reached our threshold amount!! We will start getting checks monthly.

Bessie Buckland reported on the uniforms and thanked all the volunteers.

Sarah Brown reported that contest went extremely well and appreciates the support in the philosophy. The reason the trophies are not in the case is because the case just broke. There are 110 bags of candy are left. The Parade went great – the band will receive a donation for performing at the parade.

November Band Boosters Highlight:

The November 20, 2007 band booster meeting was called to order at 7:00 in the band room.

Chris Braden gave a report on the concession stand. Denise Henkle expressed an interest in learning how the concession stand is run. Rick Braden will show Denise Henkle the concession stand operations. Basketball and wrestling season starts next week. Five to six people will be needed during basketball season. A plea for help will be put in the December newsletter.

Kroger Card update – we have met our threshold amount and the third check should be received very soon! Trying to get a jumpstart on the Evening of Jazz and Silent Auction.

Brenda Woods donated $39 of her sales from the Brookhaven game.

Sarah Brown reported State Contest went extremely well – All Superior Ratings. The Board of Education presented a Proclamation of Appreciation to the staff at the November board meeting.

Several comments regarding how well the colorgard did this year.

10 bags left in office for the boosters to sell in the concession stand.

Concert season has had a good start.

Woodwind and brass choirs started this week.

Winter Concert is 12/11/07

Holiday Spectacular is 12/13/07 - $3.00 admission with funds going for the band formal.

Cindy and Chris are having much difficulty getting any information on the fundraising opportunities at the Columbus Zoo, Cooper Stadium and Nationwide Arena.

New Business

Sarah Brown –

Both of the 7^thgrade bands and the 8^th grade band will perform at the high school on December 12^th. We will distribute a flyer to the approximately 250 families regarding the Kroger cards and we should have some available for sale.

Scott McKenzie has submitted a purchase order for a new drum line paid by the board of education.

GoodSearch – several times the group selected has disappears in GoodSearch. A note in the newsletter would be helpful to advise others to make sure that “Groveport Madison High School Band Booster” still shows as their selected organization.

Vickie Keck will purchase the Kroger cards from the band boosters for the middle school Adopt-A-Family.

Next meeting will be January 15, 2008 in the band room at 7:00pm. Hope to see you there
